Yesterday, was a tough day. My son woke me up at 4 a.m. sick. A few hours later, I had to take him to the emergency room. It is always stressful when we have a sick kid(s), especially when we are uncertain of the diagnosis. As the doctor gave orders and asked me questions, I felt overwhelmed. But then the doctor reassured me. He told me that he would find out what was wrong with my child, and treat him accordingly.
After that the staff went above and beyond to help us. They brought my son heated blankets because he was so cold, and even tracked down the drink he requested. Every so often, the doctor came into the room to give me the results of the recent tests, and to reassure me. When he gave me results, he sat down in a chair beside me and explained everything to me. Then, he offered me an opportunity to ask questions. He even offered to get me something to drink, after we had been there for hours. Every kind gesture touched my heart, and reminded that one person can always make a difference.
After witnessing the power of a servant’s heart in action, it makes me want to try harder. I want to be that beacon of light for others. I want to light up a room when I walk into it, and leave everyone better than I found them. I want to be someone who strives every day to make a difference in the world.
Today, I challenge you to join me. Let’s make a difference in the world and serve others.
Love and blessings,
Candida
