What if we mimicked God and loved everyone? Can you imagine how much greater our world would be if we all committed to helping someone else every single day?
When I had my surgery, it was the little things that helped me so much. A card, hug, flowers, my favorite food, phone calls, texts, and messages all brightened my day. Usually, we think that we can only help if we do big things. But that’s not true. Even the smallest act of kindness shows love and love makes a big difference in our lives.
Yesterday, I met a child who is on the path of self-destruction. As he bragged about beating up other kids, making failing grades, and his bad behavior, my heart broke. I listened for a while, and then I talked to him and hugged him. When I looked him in the eye and told him that I would pray for him, his demeanor changed for a moment. I also gave him an assignment to show kindness to everyone he meets for a week, and then report back to me. As he told me all of the reasons as to why he couldn’t do it, I asked him to at least try.
This morning my heart is still saddened for him. Instead of dwelling on the sadness, however, I am even more determined to make a difference in this world. We honestly don’t know what other people are going through. We have no idea what they feel inside. That is why we need to radiate God’s love every where we go, and reach out to those who are hurting.
Today my mission is to reach out to those who are struggling and to send love to them through my thoughts, prayers, and words. Perhaps our kindness and compassion will help them to break their cycle of hopelessness. We can’t just sit idly and do nothing.
What if we all put forth a small effort, and then God blessed our effort? Let’s be the change that we want to see in the world.
May God bless you,
Candida
