It is so easy to compare ourselves to others and become jealous of their success. Usually, all we see is the blessing, but we don’t often get to see the trails and heartaches endured along the way. By only looking at the reward, we fail to notice the process. It is the journey, however, that manifests the accomplishment.
I hate when I compare myself to someone else. It makes me feel bad about myself and welcomes negativity into my life. And my enemy will use that negativity to derail my journey, if I’m not careful.
When I’m focused on someone else’s life and what they are doing, then I am neglecting my own life and my own talents. God gave us all different talents, and called us to different things. Therefore, when I focus on what I can and should be doing, then I don’t have time to worry so much about others.
Every day we need to focus on how we can be the best person that we can be. We need to ask ourselves a few important questions:
Am I doing what God wants me to do?
Am I using my talent and working in my calling?
Am I showing up every day?
Is God satisfied with me?
When I break it down this way for myself, I am able to evaluate my life differently. Suddenly, it is no longer about the rewards, but more importantly the gift that is inside me. We are all on different seasons in our life. We shouldn't compare our season with someone else’s.
We shouldn't allow the devil to distract us. God has a multitude of blessings and He will deliver them to us in His time, when we are ready. In the meantime, we just need to show up every day—ready and willing to do His wonderful work.
P.S. In case you are wondering, I usually write about what I need in my own life. Today, I was feeling a little down about my fitness business and how it suffered while I was healing. By the time I finished writing this, however, I felt much better.
Have a wonderful evening!
